A lil' note bee-fer wee bee-ghin...
Just a note to all readers... I am not bragging... I am just writing out my appreciation for Los Angeles (which... i thought would never really ever happen in a million years... by the way... :P) and I promise... this appreciation-thing... it'll run it's course soon enough...
A lil' o' bit like an Oh-de....
I never realized how weirdly special (yes... weirdly special) it was living in LA... Sure, I've always appreciated the general "20minutes to anywhere" type of setting... I mean, when I was living on Olympic, I was 1.5blocks from my HS, 4.5blocks from the mall, a few miles from another mall, less than an hr from the beach, across the street was the park, and a string of coffee shops and restaurants at my disposal within 5 blocks from where i resided... it's just weird... and cool... i guess... though, I don't live there anymore, i can get to those places in a relatively reasonable time... I suppose... and now, I have Downtown just within my reach... and who knew that the office district of downtown was actually a cool place? it's actually clean and pretty and architecture is fabulous... and really... who knew (well, obviously, not me)? I mean, I guess it's cool that I know exactly where that place they filmed the coffeshop scene in the movie American History X ... I mean... I could probably give a tour to my friends to places that the movies we watched were filmed... and that I live in a place where there are palm trees... like in Florida... except without all the old people ;) hehe... sure... a lot of the beaches are polluted and have a large bacterial count and such, but still, you gotta appreciate the string of lights on the coast line @ night... because that's when you realize that in the middle of nowhere, there is a large blob of civilization, that those twinkling lights... they add to the beauty of the coastal line... at night time anyways... and ya... only in LA, will you really ever see an audi, porsche, ferrari, bmw, mercedes benz, and lexus dealership within a 10 mile radius, if that.... It's just weird... I mean... looking @ Ithaca... it's a small town... but that doesn't seem to matter so much because the area of Ithaca is so beautiful and wonderous... Honestly "Ithaca is Gorges." (for those of you who are not aquainted with that particular phrase... Ithaca has like 1000000 gorges...)
A lil' bit o' Stah-ar-gae-zing....
If you don't know already, I work at a movie theater... it's in a location that's... quite favorable... i suppose... it's in Century City... So... it's weird working there... not because I see my friends that come to watch movies... but because... celebs come to watch movies... kinda weird... not because they want to watch a movie... just seeing celebs in person is weird... I thought I was "used" to it... living in BH for over 8 yrs of my life... and seeing a couple here and there... but... I think going to Ithaca, and coming back... made me a bit more starstruck... i suppose... I don't know... haha... I mean... it was just weird seeing a Baldwin brother, Cuba Gooding Jr. and his fam, Ice Cube, and Lotoya Jackson.... I mean... c'mon... where the hell would you be able to see Lotoya Jackson in person, other than good ol' LA....
A lil' bit o' pol-ee-ticks....
Anywho... a couple of days ago... Bush came to LA... to gather mula for his campaign... i think... and I think his conference was held @ the Cenutury City Plaza Hotel... or whatever that place is where Clinton and stuff stayed during his term and shit when he came to LA... haha... which by the way, I find a bit ironic(?) because he was blocks from Beverly Hills High School... where Monica Lewinsky graduated from... hahahahaha... yes... it's probably amusing only to me... ANYWAYS... there were so many protesters.... it was cool... all the cars honking... and what not... haha... too bad some of the protesters got arrested though... that's gotta be messy... but... really... Go Protesters!!! I guess, I'm like most LA-ers that I know... and... Bush is ... ... ... WMD... pfft... *mutter*.... ya well.... ......
A lil' bit o' moo-vee ree-veeeww....
So far, I have watched only 2 movies while working @ the theater... I'm taking my time.. heheh... I watched Bruce Almighty and 28 Days Later... Bruce Almighty was definitely funny... I'd recommend it to anyone because... it's just a fun movie to watch.... and in a way... it'll make you think... about existence and such... 28 Days Later was not as scary as I thought it would be... but it was scary in the beginning.... I liked it.... it was well shot... cinematography was awesome... and such... there were definitely gross parts, during which i appropriately winced... I'm glad they didn't linger over for like 30 min of the movie showing how the infection occurs and such... because... well... it all happens in 20 seconds... it was refreshing in that manner as well... and I liked the little family idea that they had going... with the Dad... and the daughter... and whatnot... very poignant... I think you can come out from watching the movie with the sense of... the importance of family, respecting nature, frailty of life, and primal instincts of survival... that is... if you want to.... I don't think a lot of people will draw such a conclusion, due to the fact that they are normal, sane people, and do not over analyze as I do... anyways... the point is... I recommend it...
Yet oh-nah-der moo-vee ree-veeeewww....
Anyone remember the movie Contact ? I mean, I had certainly not thought about it constantly, and it was definitely fun watching it again on TV... It's an awesome movie... the whole idea of extra-terrestrial life... and the idea of how there is and very well SHOULD be something beyond our little solar system... When I watched this movie the first time... a line stayed with me always -- when Ellie's dad says that It would an awful waste of space if we were the only living things in the whole universe, the galaxy.... doesn't that seem so true? something that we all must have thought about at some point in our lives... something that makes everything teem with possibilities.... I dunno... now i'm just blabbering on :D... but I think you all understand what I'm trying to say -- Watch this movie... enjoy it... think with it... :D The book is good too... it is by Carl Sagan, a professor @ Cornell... he passed away in '96(?)... i think... not sure... but he had some wonderful ideas... don't ya think?
And... fye-null-ee....
A lil' bit o'... well... nothin' really left ter say... Ah sah-pose...
Well... G'night...
